22ND SEPTEMBER 2006 Yesterday was the start of the Royal Melbourne show and the Finnish Lapphunds were shown. That is 6 Best of Breed wins for Blaze at Royal shows, three of which were this year around the country. Miss Macey took out Reserve Bitch Challenge yesterday to Emmi Ch. 16TH SEPTEMBER 2006 Today Articmal kennels hosted another Lappy Day Picnic. Gordon threw on some lovely weather, the sun did shine, it wasn't too windy and we only got a few spits of Rain. Attending were Pam Francis with Jaska, Tarka, Anika & Leila MAGPIELANE Kennel's . Jacqualine Lincoln with Kulta and Emmi ARMAHANI Kennel's, Warwick & Sandy Gill with Tor & Loka, Cherelle Latta with Willoughby and of course myself with Blaze, Macey, Kusko and Kya. The dogs had an absolute ball running around playing, chasing balls, begging for food and smiling for the camera. There are a few photo's below taken on the day by Jacqualine Lincoln. For more photos go here: ARMAHANI Kennel Photo Page. This site has photos from all our Lappy Days, current photos under September 2006.
Next Lappy Day will be Sunday the 3rd of December.
16TH AUGUST 2006 On Monday the 14th of August, Blaze, Macey, Jacqualine Lincoln from ARMAHANI Kennel's, with her dogs Kulta and Emmi and I attended the Brisbane Royal Show and competed against the majority of the Queensland Lapphunds. I am very happy to announce that between us we almost had a complete sweep of the top prizes. Blaze took out BEST OF BREED, Macey BITCH CHALLENGE, Emmi RESERVE BITCH CHALLENGE and Kulta took out Best Australian Bred Dog. This is Blaze's 4th BEST OF BREED in a row for the Royals he attended. FUll details are on the Royal Show page.
17TH JULY 2006 Today I had the pleasure of accompanying Pam Francis of MAGPIELANE Kennel's to visit her newest import from FINLAND TERHAKAN UTU LEENA (ImpFIN), or better known as Leila. We visited Leila in Melbourne Quarantine, on a lovely cold and rainy day, but Leila didn't care, she was so happy to have company, even if she didn't understand a word of what was said! What a delightful girl Leila is, her temperament is so sweet, a real asset to Australian Lapphunds, bringing in many strengths with her confirmation, all toped off with her gorgeous burnished orange coat. My excitement level is high with Leila's arrival as Im hoping she is carrying a little Lappy baby in her belly for me.
9TH JULY 2006 Blaze, Macey, Kuskoand Kya attended the VICTORIAN SPITZ BREED CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW and Blaze took out BEST OF BREED over an entry of 11 Lapphunds. Blaze has certainly been consistant with his wins which is an absolute delight considering I only get to a handful of shows now that Im a busy Mother. Our next show will be the Royal Brisbane Show in August where I will be exhibiting Blazeand Macey.
APRIL 2006 Although still stuck at home myself with my children, I sent Blaze to Amanda and Ben of CUEBIYAR Kennels to show for me at the SYDNEY ROYAL EASTER SHOW. Blaze under Amanda's fantastic handling took out a 16p BEST OF BREED under FINNISH Judge Mr J Juslin. I couldn't be prouder of my boy.

5ST DECEMBER 2004
Yesterday I lost my heart and soul, my belovered LITTLEMAN. My chest aches and my eyes are still swollen, my ears are still listening out for the sound of his feet on the floorboards, but the reality is, hes gone. Seven years and seven months I was blessed with him, each day a achievement, each day a joy. But yesterday I had to give my gift back to god, for that's how I saw him, a beautiful, not quite right in body and mind, but a gift none the less.
Littleman did nothing for the breed, did nothing for my kennels, he wasn't a show dog, or a stud dog, he was simply my best friend, my substitute son, the boy who was with me through thick and thin. Both of us went to hell and back over the years, with either my disasters or his own frail body. It was a fight from the time he was born and at 7 weeks old when I realised the extent of his problems, to keep him alive, to keep him moving, to keep him healthy. But if there ever was a dog that wanted to live, it was my boy, who saw through countless operations and treatment, with the most cheerful and happy smiling eyes and zest for life and living it.
I could write a book on this boys short but eventful life, his "go get-em!" attitude, his will to live, fight, run and catch up with the others, his wish to swim the river with the others, (he's achieved all this). His wobbly "I must, I must, cock my leg to pee". His bunny-hopping-windmill-like back legs flying everywhere when he tried to run fast. His nose in my face when he didn't get his way. His balancing act when her tried to do the "chicken scratch". His under-the-breath-girl-like bark and howl and his growl that sounds more like a cat clearing its throat. His "I'm tougher than you" attitude to other dogs, who no matter what size or level of aggressiveness, all just want to lick his face and submit to him. His mile-wide grin that flopped around as he pelted towards me when he saw me coming. Littleman touched most people who met him, they realised he was special, not only to me, but in himself.
God how I miss him so much already. Thank you to Fionna who came up here yesterday to see me through the toughest day of my life, who was rightly there at the end as she had been there when he was born and just began his life. Littleman and I spent the morning together, me grooming him, playing with him and feeding him his favourite foods. In the afternoon Fionna and I took him for a walk and when he had tired we sat under a tree with him, where he played with a teddy and received cuddles, kisses and instructions from both of us. When they came for my boy, Littleman had thought he had been on a grand adventure, he had been having such a great time. He died peacefully with my arms surrounding him, just as they had when he was a baby.
RIP Articmal Cikana Inihan (Small Wonder) 26 April 1997 to 04 December 2004.

NEW AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION
AUST CH. ARTICMAL DYNAMIC RAIN - RAIN

Chimo Power of One) at 18 months of age, took out Best Of Breed (15points) giving her enough points for her Australian Championship. This was at The Riverland Obedience & Kennel Club Championship Show, Judge Mr J E Kelly (SA) And again like her mother, Rain didn't finish there and went on to taking out Best Intermediate in Group, finishing off her title in style....
A HUGE congratulations to Rains Co-Owners Danielle and Ben Davy, who did ALLLLLL the work, grooming, training, and showed RAIN superbly to her title and countless group/show awards. Well done guys, I'm proud of you and soooo happy that Miss Rain with no brain has grown to exceed our expectations. Now lets just hope that when Miss Rain has a litter, she passes on her BEAUTY and not her BRAIN to her puppies *GRIN*

NEW AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION
AUST CH. VIKSALAN JIELLA - MACEY
Macey has finished her Australian title, thanks to the wonderful girls who handled Macey for me while I was pregnant, Tonya Syme, Fionna Paton and Michelle Watson. I was thrilled to be able to show Macey myself for the last few points she needed, while Fionna baby sat Alex for me. I'm very lucky that Macey is such a easy girl to handle. Check out the litters page for updates on Maceys planned mating/litter.
Rain is still out there strutting her stuff, in a few shows she has picked up a 2nd Placing in Junior Sweepstakes, a Best Junior in Group and is now sitting on 82 points. Not bad for the limited showing Miss Rain gets too. Ben and Danni have also manged to get Fawn a step closer to her Aust. title with Fawn being awarded bitch challenge. Check out dogs pages for more information.
2ND MAY 2004

On this great day, my beautiful two legged daughter was born. On Tuesday the 20th at 8.24 am my gorgeous ALEX THERESA was finally born, weighing in at 6 pound 7. Needless to say, both myself and my partner Paul are estactic, although my four footed ladies are very disappointed that all I could manage to produce, was "one" pup. *grin*

My last lot of dog shows before having my own baby, happened this weekend at KCC Park over the Easter weekend. 20TH MARCH 2004
Macey is still on her winning streak, picking up her first BEST JUNIOR IN GROUP award. This achievement was at the Camperdown & District KC under judge Mrs M McArdie on the 7th of March. I have updated Macey's page, so go have a peak at how this girl is maturing.

See Riva's and Blaze's pages for specific details! Hi Guys Just thought I would share with you my little adventure this morning. I was sitting in my kitchen, eating my breakfast when I heard my Malamutes go wild. Glancing out the kitchen window I saw to my disbelief a deer milling around with the horses in the paddock behind my dogs exercise runs. As my Mals in the back runs where slamming the fence, trying to get through to this tasty delight that had turned up, I thought I better go and chase it off my property. I had seen the deer before, it belongs to one of my neighbors in the area. So off I went down to the back paddock and started the fun of shooing this deer out of the back paddock and into the larger one, with the ultimate goal in mind of getting it into a holding pen (for cows) that I have at the front of my property, so the owner could come and get it. Gasping for breath and getting absolutely no where with the deer (they are soooooo fast!) I stopped and thought "What am I doing chasing this deer around, when I have a perfectly good example of a REINDEER HERDING Finnish Lapphund, barking madly in my back yard"! DUH! So off I went again and got Blaze the lappy and told him on the way down to the paddock what I wanted him to do. He danced around me with delight in his eyes "were going for a walk this morning, great great great" . When I got him to the paddock, he stopped dead still and quivered............and took off after the HORSES! I called him off them, and started chasing the deer myself, watching me perform like a idiot, Blaze decided to take over and in under a minute had the deer chased out of that paddock into the big one and up the top of my property, with me puffing and panting behind him. Would you believe he actually had chased that deer into the holding pen? I couldn't believe it, and he even backed off when I called him to me and shut the gate. So now I have one very upset deer, one very excited Lapphund and six drooling Malamutes. The deer owner will be over tonight to collect him. In between time I have left the deer with a pile of hay and water and given Blaze a huge bone to munch on as a reward. What a morning........ |
