6TH APRIL 2008

Alaska has done it again. Today I took Alaska to the Canine Museum Foundation Championship Show and under Judge : Mr A Macandie Alaska won BEST INTERMEDIATE IN GROUP 5 . We couldn't be prouder of him !!

3RD APRIL 2008

A few updates today. Alaska has come back out showing for 2008 along side him, my homebred girl Kisses. Our first show was The Mt Elephant & District Kennel clubs (8 March 08) two shows in one day. Alaska took out BOB at both these shows and in the PM show under Judge: Mrs F Ward Alaska took out BEST JUNIOR IN GROUP !!. Kisses for her first show did beautifully, showing herself very nicely and taking out Baby of Breed.

Only two weeks later and I headed off with Alaska and Kisses to my local show Sovereign City Kennel Club (30 March 08) and once again Alaska took out BOB, then went on to win BEST INTERMEDIATE IN GROUP, under Judge: Mrs J Hocking. He then took this win one step further and was awarded BEST INTERMEDIATE IN SHOW !!!. Not bad for a boy who has only just moved up into Intermediate class. My little Kisses this time decided that showing was too much fun and wanted to play instead of stand and gaiting is certainly not as much fun as RUNNNNNNNINNNNNG. Oh well, back to training Miss Kisses and I go.

Kusko has now become "AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION SETAREH TARMO". Many thanks go to Amanda and Ben Helps of Cuebiyar Kennels for taking Kusko on for a few months and showing him in NSW's for me. Chasing Litter 6 week photos are up on the puppy page. Its hard to believe that in only two weeks they will be leaving to join their new families. Below is a photo of the whole litter taken on Sunday (25th Nov).

1ST NOVEMBER 2007

Chasing Litter's first day out of the box. Today being such lovely mild weather I brought the pups out of the house and gave them some grass time. They have wonderful little temperaments and didn't complain at all being outside experiencing the feel of grass, my children's hands and playing with their mum and dad. Below is a photo I took of my daughter who is a puppy magnet and the pups.

12TH OCTOBER 2007

Macey just couldn't wait to have her puppies and 5 days early has produced 5 gorgeous black&Tan puppys, three boys and two girl. My heartfelt thanks to Pam Francis from Magpielane Kennels who actually whelped Macey's litter for me. Below is a photo of Macey and her pups. I will update the litters page with individual photos next week.

Wow, yet another Melbourne Royal has come and today I went along to show Blaze, Alaska and Sandra brought along my homebred boy Tor to join 15 other Lapphunds to compete for Best Of Breed Finnish Lapphund at the Melbourne Royal.

I am very VERY pleased and excited to announce that my wonder dog BLAZE took out BEST OF BREED for the FOURTH year in a row. Can you believe it? I am still pinching myself ! Jacq's lovely bitch Emmi (Ch. Lumiturpa Emmi (IMP FNL)) took out Runner Up Best of Breed for the second year running, and our (Jacq, Pam's and My) new import Alaska (Teelikamentten Iikka (Imp Fnl) took out the Reserve Dog Challenge over a lovely field of male Lappies. My homebred boy owned by Sandy TOR, took out Intermediate dog. Full results are on my Royal Show page, click HERE. Below is a photo of Blaze and me taken on the day.

15TH JULY 2007

It is with a heavy heart that I am updating my website this week. Sadly Cinnamon aka "Buster" passed away in an awful accident that broke Ray, Janaia and my hearts. I have put off updating my website as the thought of writing in the happy news of the other Puppies joining their families has been overshadowed by my grief at Busters loss. Today I am attempting to put Busters passing out of my mind and concentrate on Edge, Scribble, Diesel, Aggi, Bear, Scratch & Atticus who have moved into their new owners lives and happily taken over. Their page has now been moved to PAST LITTERS TARKYA where you can see photos of these kids with thewier happy new owners.

Last week also saw Alaska coming out of quarantine and joining my pack and family. It didn't take him long to become a member and its now only a week later hard to believe that Alaska hasn't always lived with me. Blaze and Alaska are now the best of mates, they play constantly and are now alway a muddy wet mess because of rolling around on the wet ground together. Blaze though is super jealous of the affection I am showing Alaska and tries his hardest to move my hands from Alaska and onto him *grin* Macey is trying to behave in a dignified manner, but every now and then breaks out of her lady like behaviour and starts running around crazily and plays with the new man on the block. Kusko and Alaska think they have found their soul mates, both as crazy and as energetic as each other, I fear for their limbs when they get together for a play. Kya tries to play, but like Macey, now that she has had a litter of puppies, feels she is above the childish behaviour of rolling around on the ground, but again like Macey breaks out occasionally and has a run around with him. Alaska has been the one bright star in this awful week for me, his snuggling on the couch with me, his thievery of my armchair before I can sit down and his head on my pillow at night has brought a smile back to my face and faith in myself to keep going with these wonderful dogs, because the good moments, the moments that make you smile, far outweigh the sadness of the loss's when one of our special babies die.

24TH JUNE 2007

Six week puppy photo's are now up. Boy these are cute puppies !

10TH JUNE 2007

8TH JUNE 2007

ALASKA is finally here! Yesterday morning Alaska arrived into Melbourne Quarantine, after winging his way all the way from Finland. Leaving behind the broken hearts of his breeders Saila and Mika from Teelikamentten Kennels . My thanks and appreciation go to Mika and Saila for sending Alaska to us. There are no words to describe the dedication and trust that Saila and Mika have shown in us by sending Alaska to us, and I wish there was more words in the English language to convey to them my thanks! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Today Alaska's co-owners Jacqualine Lincoln (ARMAHANI Kennel's), Pamela Francis (MAGPIELANE Kennel's) and I went to Quarantine to meet Alaska for the first time (well Jacq's second time) WOW, what a stunning young man. Although being a little shell shocked from such a long trip, Alaska didn't take much coxing to become our friends, pictured below is a photo of Alaska and his THREE mums.

Jacqualine Lincoln, Pamela Francis, Vanessa Brotto with Alaska in the middle

Alaska's reality is sooo much better than his photos, big boned, gorgeous coat, large full tail, rear angulation and the most stunning front I have seen on a Lapphund in Australia, Alaska has certainly taken all the best from his famous pedigree. You can see more photos of Alaska's Australian arrival on his own page. Expect more updates on Alaska when he comes home to Articmal kennels.

27TH MAY 2007

Kya's litter is now 2 weeks old, you can see new photos of these kids HERE

I have also updated photos of Kusko and Winter on their pages. I attended the Geelong show today with Blaze, Kusko and Winter had her debut show. Blaze took out Dog CC and Kusko Reserve CC, little Winter was Baby of Breed and after creating a stir around the show ring, was shortlined for Baby in group, but missed out by a hair. Both Pam (Magpielane kennels) and I are thrilled with Winters looks and attitude.

10TH MAY 2007

I am excited to announce the long planed and long awaited for 1st litter of KYA (Watersedge Tru Diamond IID) has arrived. Daddy to these babies is Tarka (FJALLFARMENS UMMIKO (imp Swd)) from MAGPIELANE Kennel's. Kya presented Jacqualine (ARMAHANI Kennel's) and I with 8 babies, 6 Browns and 2 Black and tans. Keep watch on my Puppies page for updates as these kids grow.

21ST APRIL 2007

Alaska is still showing off in Finland. At his latest show ALASKA again took out BEST OPPOSITE SEX PUPPY OF BREED. Thank you Mika and Saila for letting Alaska have these experiences. Judge Pekka Teini said about Alaska in his critique:

"Colour: Black and tan. Puppy has gorgeous balance. Right expression. Forequarters and hindquarters are good balance. Good angulation. Beautiful tail. Good quality of puppy coat."

25TH MARCH 2007

Exciting news all the way from Finland for Articmal, Armahani Kennel's and Magpielane Kennel's . ALASKA our new boy, due to arrive in Australia in June, attended the FINNISH LAPPHUND Specialty show in Finland. Our Lucky Jacqualine Lincoln from Armahani kennels not only got the buzz of being at this show, but Mika and Saila from Teelikamentten Kennels , kindly allowed our Jacq to handle and exhibit Alaska at this big event. I am thrilled to announce that Alaska took out BEST OPPOSITE SEX PUPPY OF BREED.

Jacq in Finland showing Alaska

Showing in Finland runs a little differently from Australia. Alaska was initially entered into a class of 5-7 month old males and under Judge: Tapio Kakko from Jäkäläkummon Kennels where he was awarded 1st place (Seven entered). He then had to wait while the 7-9 month old puppies were judged and then had to compete against the winner of this class, which he also won to take out Best Male puppy of Breed.

Beautiful Alaska head shot.

For more details of Alaska's win, including Alaska's critique (All dogs judged at the specialty were given an individual critique) please go to ALASKA'S page.

11TH MARCH 2007

Wow what a year Articmal has had already. It's been a long time since I have updated my website and allot has been happening at Articmal, we have moved, we are expecting a import, we are expecting a litter of lapphunds and sadly we have lost dogs. I have updated every page on this website, some with minor changes and some a full overhaul. Below is some of the Major news of this kennel.

Firstly Articmal kennels had a major move in January and are now set up in the lovely town of Ballan, not far from where we previously were. Although the land is a little smaller, we are all enjoying the comforts of a modern home, compared to my old farmstead before.

Its with excitement and anticipation that Articmal Kennels awaits the arrival of our new import Teelikamentten Iikka . Alaska as we have named him, will be co-owned by Jacqualine Lincoln of Armahani Kennel's, Pamela Francis of Magpielane Kennel's and myself. I am also the very very lucky lady who gets to love, show and live with Alaska. Many Many thanks go to Alaska's breeders Saila and Mika of Teelikamentten Kennels (Finland) for allowing us the opportunity of having Alaska join our growing population of Finnish Lapphunds here in Australia.

Alaska at his first informal puppy show in Finland 27th February 2007, where he was awarded first place puppy out of EIGHT, being the youngest and beating them all. Judges comments "Size and proportion are very well. Strong bone structure with good head and expression. Good neck and top line. Good tale. Good body. Moves very well"

More exciting news is that KYA WATERSEDGE TRU DIAMOND (IID), is now expecting her first litter to SWEDISH Import FJALLFARMENS UMMIKO "Tarka". Kya's due date is the 8th of May, enquires welcome. Check out my Puppy page for more details.

Articmal hasn't made it to any shows this year yet, so no Show news. Blaze and Kusko are still in training for Obedience and Agility, so hopefully we will be hitting the trial ring this year too.
